Magnesium Chloride(MgCl2.6H2O) 99.07%, is a colorless crystalline compound and is highly soluble in water. The salt is very hygroscopic, as the natural mineral MgCl₂ is also extracted by solution mining.
Areas of Use
DE-ICING
Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) and Magnesium Chloride (MgCl2) provides effective deicing/anti-icing when applied either before or after a snow or ice storm. The product quickly begins to melt snow and ice breaks the bond to achieve a clear surface. It is used to prevent ice forming on roads and remove ice buildup from roadways, driveways and side walks.
DUST CONTROL
Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) and Magnesium Chloride (MgCl2) helps control dust because they are hygroscopic. The product attracts moisture from the atmosphere and resists evaporation. When spread on an unpaved surface, it keeps it damp thus keeping dust down. It binds fine dust particles to keep roads stabilized, and to slow the loss of aggregate.
OIL & GAS
Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) and Magnesium Chloride (MgCl2) are widely used in drilling mud and completion fluids to cool and lubricate the drill bit and to remove cuttings from the hole. It helps add density to the mud to overcome formation pressures to keep the oil, gas, and water in place.
